Beverly –
I purchased my Min-Classic II in 2009. That’s 15 years of use and still going!
Two person home (sometimes kids here) in a small HOA community on a well on an aquifer in a city in desert southwest where by growing population and industrial the water increasingly has more ‘stuff’ in it. Because I have to keep my Mini-Classic on a laundry room counter, I confess I used it in stop-and-start spurts until the last few years I have an under sink RO but am turning more to my Mini-Classic vs my RO.
The water is delicious – and we simply feel better drinking it. Once I had to send it in for a new fan and heating element replacement, not inexpensive but fair priced for the quality, reliable work. I use the distilled water for drinking, coffee, make ice cubes (which do not melt as fast) in trays and for minor cooking (though considering recent reports I will begin using it for more). I’m not a purist, yet it’s all becoming very concerning, recent court decision that fda’s fluoride levels are harmful, many recent studies (not the least of which is on fluoride and diabetes and kidneys), other concerning chems, metals, plastics, medicines and drugs dripping into in our water supplies – and refrigerator icecube-makers coated in teflon that flakes off.
My family business was manufacturing and I have not seen a better made product – and sturdy built. Like the reputable companies in America in past, this company offer parts and videos for descaling and do-it-yourself rarely needed replacements. The price is very fair considering the quality.
